Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast by late in the week and into next weekend as southerly wind flow and warmer/hotter and more humid conditions return to the corn-growing region. Low risks focus initially west of roughly the I-35 corridor Friday night into Saturday before expanding/spreading east into the southwestern Great Lakes and portions of the eastern corn-growing region mainly along/west of I-69/65 by Saturday into Sunday. There is some uncertainty in the forecast by the weekend, however, in just how everything lines up and if another cold front may actually pass through the region, so elevated risks are not being added to the forecast just yet. Growers should monitor traps and scout fields especially where crops are at vulnerable stages regardless of risk level at this time.
