Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast as early as tomorrow night into Thursday west of the I-35 corridor from eastern Kansas into Iowa and Minnesota as southerly winds develop to the east of low pressure forming in southern Canada. Low risks then expand east into much of the corn-growing region especially along/south of I-90 for the rest of the week and into the weekend as the overall weather pattern remains pretty stagnant and heat/humidity return to the area. Overall, however, southerly winds are not expected to be particularly strong so only Low risks are in the forecast at this time. The duration of southerly winds may change this in time. Growers with crops still at susceptible stages to damage, especially fresh market and processing growers, should continue regular scouting and trapping efforts until the threat has passed for this growing season.
