Corn Earworm
A very summerlike weather pattern is expected across the corn-growing region in the next week, and this may lead to some corn earworm moth migrations especially as we head into early next week. While most crops are not at a susceptible stage to damage as of yet, especially field corn and sweet corn, there are some other vegetables and fresh market/garden crops that may be at this time. As a result, Low migration risks are in place across a broad area especially west of the Great Lakes by later Saturday into Sunday, with the risk then expanding east into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region mainly west of the I-75 corridor. A Moderate risk is likely to be issued in Monday’s forecast once confidence increases in exactly where storm clusters are likely to occur and potentially impact migration events. Low risks continue through at least the middle of next week before the pattern breaks down a little bit, potentially, by later in the week or the following weekend.
