Corn Earworm
A cold front will move southeast through much of the corn-growing region over the next 24-36 hours. South to southwest winds east of the front may lead to some isolated corn earworm moth flights especially southeast of a line from near Wichita, Kansas to Green Bay, Wisconsin this evening into tomorrow morning. Overall, however, wind speeds are not expected to be quite as favorable as last night so only Low (isolated) risks are in place. Little to no additional migration risks are in the forecast the rest of the week and into the weekend, although some very isolated flights may occur mainly on a local basis across Kansas into Missouri and southern Illinois mid-late week but precipitation may limit this risk. Growers with crops at or near susceptible stages to corn earworm damage should check traps and scout regularly especially given the presence of moths in many areas already this summer.
