Alert Details

Remnants of Hurricane Beryl are expected to move northeast from the southern United States into the Ohio River valley and eventually the southeastern Great Lakes region by mid-week. Historically, we have had some instances of corn earworms becoming trapped and lofted into these systems, with the potential for some moths to have originated from Mexico or other Caribbean locations making it into the corn-growing region. As a result, Low migration risks are in the forecast mainly southeast of the I-55 corridor tomorrow night into Wednesday as this system moves northeast. Otherwise, Low risks are in place mainly south of I-90 and west of I-55 from Thursday night into the weekend as a low pressure system organizes in the High Plains, spreading southerly winds back into the western and central corn-growing region by that time.
