Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast for much of the upcoming weekend especially along/south of I-90 in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and west of I-57 in eastern Illinois. Low pressure is expected to develop in the northern Plains and southern Canada as high pressure drifts into the southern United States. Somewhat modest southerly winds are expected to originate from Texas and blow northward, and some isolated corn earworm migration events may occur in or near the risk area. Growers with crops at sensitive stages to corn earworm damage should be monitoring traps and scouting fields as flights have been observed in some areas already in the past several weeks.
