Corn Earworm
A developing low pressure system in the High Plains will spread southerly winds into the Plains states and western corn-growing region initially especially by tomorrow but more-so this weekend and into early next week. Heat and humidity will also be on the increase, and Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast beginning tomorrow night into Saturday mainly west of I-55 and along/south of the I-90 corridor with source regions focusing solely in Texas. By later in the weekend, a cold front will be slowly making its way southeast, and southwesterly winds are expected to focus further east with Low migration risks following suit as far east as southwest Ontario, Canada, Ohio, and portions of Kentucky. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage are encouraged to monitor traps and scout fields at this time given recent observed and potential new flights.
