Corn Earworm
A cold front will move southeast through much of the corn-growing region over the next 24-36 hours. A reprieve from the heat, humidity, and south to southwest winds is likely for many areas for much of this week and likely into next weekend, as well, along with the risk for corn earworm migration. Before the front moves southeast, however, a Low risk remains in the forecast tonight into tomorrow mainly southeast of a line from south central Kansas northeast to near Chicago, Illinois where south to southwest winds will be present and also where precipitation may not advance far enough south yet to interrupt moth flights. It is possible that some more intense moth flights occurred into portions of southern Minnesota, southern and southwest Wisconsin, far northeast Iowa, and far northern Illinois this past Saturday night into Sunday, and growers in or near these areas should be prepared for new moths in their traps this week.
