Alert Details

Moderate corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast tonight into tomorrow across portions of Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois as southerly winds feed into the I-80 corridor across this region. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue to develop somewhere between the I-80 and I-90 corridors from eastern South Dakota and northern Nebraska eastward across Iowa and into Illinois, and it is near these clusters where corn earworms may drop out. The Moderate risk may be a little aggressive on the northern end especially across Minnesota and Wisconsin but enough uncertainty remains to keep a broader risk area in place. Low risks are found as far east as southwest lower Michigan, Indiana, and western Kentucky. As a cold front begins to push eastward tomorrow into Thursday, Low migration risks continue mainly along/east of the I-35 corridor but overall wind speeds do not look as favorable, or as strong, so only Low risks are predicted at this time. Little to no additional migration risk is predicted into the weekend but this may change later in the week given some conflicting longer-range data so stay tuned!
