Corn Earworm
A cold front is expected to continue moving east over the next 24-36 hours as a low pressure system meanders near the Great Lakes region. South to southwest winds east of the front may lead to at least isolated if not scattered corn earworm moth flights tonight into tomorrow morning, and a Moderate risk is in place across northern Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and primarily southeastern lower Michigan as well as southern Ontario, Canada. Growers in these areas should monitor traps and scout fields in the coming days as some new moths may appear. This is not expected to be a widespread event given the rather short duration of southerly winds anticipated, but given the time of year and crop stage both in the source region and further north, some flights are still expected. Low risks extend further west along the front from southeast Missouri into Illinois and far southeast Wisconsin. Little to no additional migration risks are predicted through early next week given predicted northwest flow.
