Corn Earworm
A cold front will move through the eastern corn-growing region over the next 24-36 hours. South to southwest winds east of the front may result in some isolated corn earworm migration events from the mid-south into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region mainly to the east of I-55 in southeast Missouri and central/northeast Illinois. At the present time, little to no migration risk is predicted into early next week but some new migration risks may be needed for next week depending on how a possible system at that time develops. Growers with crops still at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage, especially fresh market and processing growers, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields until the threat has passed for harvest occurs.
