Alert Details

A cold front is predicted to move across much of the corn-growing region over the next 36-48 hours. South to southwest winds will be common east of the front, and these winds may result in some isolated corn earworm migration events to occur. Tonight into tomorrow, the primary risk area is from central Kansas and eastern Nebraska as far east as the I-69 corridor in western Kentucky, Indiana, and into southern lower Michigan and as far north as southern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Low risks continue mainly east of a line from near Springfield, Missouri to Chicago, Illinois tomorrow night into Wednesday as the front continues east. While the risk to field crops is virtually none right now given crop stage, some of the flights this time of year may result in generations later in the summer and also, any more advanced fresh market or produce crops may be affected or serve as good hosts right now, as well, so trapping/scouting efforts are still important.
