Corn Earworm
No corn earworm migration risk is predicted until the very end of the extended forecasting period (Sunday night and Monday morning) when enough southerly wind flow is expected to return to primarily the Plains states ahead of the next low pressure system pushing into the Plains. In the meantime, high pressure is expected to remain in control across much of the corn-growing region. The result will be rather light winds through the next four days. By next weekend, as low pressure organizes in the northern Rockies or High Plains region, enough southerly winds should result in at least a Low corn earworm migration risk especially west of US 71 and south of I-90 from southern South Dakota and southwest Minnesota into Nebraska, far western Iowa and Missouri, and central/northern Kansas.
