Alert Details

The rather stagnant weather pattern across the corn-growing region is expected to continue into the weekend before we see some changes next week to a more progressive and generally cooler/drier pattern. Before that point, however, modest south to southwest wind flow will continue to provide nightly chances for corn earworm migration, but primarily on an isolated basis and with most crops still not at a susceptible stage to damage from corn earworms specifically, only Low risks are in the forecast. Low risks are found tonight into tomorrow from Kansas and Missouri as far northeast as southern Wisconsin. The risk area focuses further southeast as a cold front begins to sink south before refocusing across the Plains by late week, with a gradual eastward shift over the weekend back into the Great Lakes region. Fresh market and garden growers are encouraged to continue monitoring traps and scouting fields as some isolated flights have been documented in some areas, especially in the southern corn-growing region, in the last week or so.
