Alert Details

Northwest flow is expected to dominate the corn-growing region weather pattern for only about a day or day and a half until southerly winds ahead of the next developing weather system return to the Plains tomorrow night into Thursday. Already, Low corn earworm migration risks are in place mainly across Kansas, Nebraska, and southern South Dakota during this time. Low risks then spread east as far as near the Mississippi River Thursday night into Friday, and finally envelop much of the remainder of the Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region by late Friday and into the weekend before a cold front moves southeast by early next week. There is still some uncertainty in the timing of this cold front for next weekend, so stay tuned on the overall risk forecast especially for next weekend.
