Alert Details

The active weather pattern is expected to continue for much of the corn-growing region in the next week. The result will be near daily chances for corn earworm migration, as well, mainly on modest south to southwest winds south of a series of cold and warm fronts. The first front will cross at least a portion of the central and eastern corn-growing region today into tomorrow, and Low migration risks are focused mainly south of a Wichita, Kansas to north of Chicago, Illinois line across the southeastern corn-growing region. The overall weather pattern and placement of fronts by the weekend is a little more uncertain today, but it appears better migration risks will focus across the southern half of the corn-growing region beginning Friday night and continuing into Saturday and beyond. Only Low risks are predicted mainly south of I-90 and west of the I-75 corridor during this time, and hopefully by the end of the week we can provide a little more focus to the greater risk areas that may see new corn earworm migration events.
