Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast tomorrow night into Saturday as southerly winds increase ahead of a developing low pressure system in the High Plains or southern Canada. Migration risks will generally continue nightly into next week, but mainly focused along/west of the Great Lakes/Lake Michigan. Low risks are predicted mainly along/south of I-90 tomorrow night into Saturday, with a focus a little further to the south by Saturday night into Sunday before increasing south to southwest winds push the risk a little further to the north early next week. We anticipate that elevated risks will likely be needed at some point early-mid next week as a favorable wind regime coming right out of Texas may lead to additional potentially more widespread flights by that time. Growers should continue to monitor traps and scout fields especially where corn earworm could result in damage to the crop.
