Corn Earworm
Moderate corn earworm migration risks are predicted the next two nights as a favorable corridor for scattered migration events will exist to the east of a cold front. Moderate risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow across eastern Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Iowa, and into western Wisconsin. Low risks extend east to near Lake Michigan and into central Illinois. As the cold front moves east tomorrow into Thursday, the Moderate risk area shifts east, as well, and includes northeast and eastern Iowa, southeast Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois and Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan. Already by late Friday into Saturday, the next in a likely series of migration risks enters the picture once again mainly west of Lake Michigan as the next system begins to organize in the Plains states and spreads southerly winds back across the western and central corn-growing region. Growers are advised to regularly check traps and scout fields as numerous flights have been observed in scattered regions of the corn-growing region, and the possibility of further flights will remain possible in many areas in the coming days to week.
