Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks remain in the forecast through at least Thursday night, as at least weak to occasionally moderate southerly winds may allow for some isolated corn earworm migration events. Moths are still somewhat active in portions of the mid-south and southern states, and fresh market/processing fields may pose a suitable host site in portions of the corn-growing region, even at this point in the growing season with intentionally-late planted fields. Low risks remain in place tonight into tomorrow mainly west of the I-55 corridor, with the risk then expanding east to near Lake Michigan and I-57 in eastern Illinois tomorrow night into Wednesday. As a potential cold front moves southeast by late week, Low risks then focus mainly east of the Mississippi River with a little bit lower confidence by that point in just how fast/strong this potential front may move through. Growers with crops still at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage should continue scouting and trapping efforts until the threat has passed or harvest occurs.
