Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks will persist in the forecast on a nightly basis into early next week as a rather stagnant weather pattern remains across the corn-growing region. By this point in the growing season, the only fields of concern for lingering corn earworm issues are fresh market and processing fields, and these growers should continue to monitor traps and scout fields until the threat has passed or harvest occurs. Low risks are focused mainly west of Lake Michigan for the next few nights, but we are seeing higher confidence that a more widespread risk area may develop by later in the weekend and early next week as a stronger cold front finally moves southeast through the corn-growing region. By later Saturday into Sunday, Low risks spread as far east as near the I-75 corridor. Should this pattern materialize by the weekend, elevated migration risks may be warranted in some areas despite the time of year so stay tuned!
