Moderate corn earworm migration risks remain in the forecast through Saturday morning as a favorable weather pattern for migration will remain in place for at least a portion of the corn-growing region. Moderate risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow across portions of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and lower Michigan as south to southwest winds along with hot/humid conditions will remain place. The northern edge of the risk area is a little uncertain given precipitation placement expectations along/north of I-90 through the period. Moderate risks do shift back west tomorrow night into Friday as new low pressure organizes in the Plains states, with the primary risk area west of Lake Michigan. Once we get into the weekend, however, a cold front does look to push south through a good portion of the corn-growing region, at least to near I-70, but some southerly winds will still likely remain in the Plains states so we continue to carry a Low risk in that area but the last night for Moderate risks appears to be Friday night into Saturday. Growers are encouraged to continue to monitor traps and scout fields as several days in a row of a favorable weather pattern is likely to lead to at least some isolated/scattered moth flights into some areas.
