The weather pattern will start to become a little more progressive as we head into the weekend, and it does appear that a cold front will clear a good portion of the northern and central corn-growing region by Sunday. Before this front moves southeast, however, we will continue Moderate corn earworm migration risks initially focused near and west of the Great Lakes tonight into tomorrow, with perhaps the better chance for migration events in the southern Great Lakes and portions of the eastern corn-growing region tomorrow night into Saturday before the front begins to settle southeast and winds switch around to the north and northeast. Low risks focus along/south of I-70 Saturday night into Sunday before risks are removed altogether by the end of the weekend and into early next week. All growers from field crops to fresh market, processing, and garden/produce should be monitoring traps and scouting fields closely over the next week or so, as long as the crop is at a susceptible stage to corn earworm damage, as weather conditions have been very favorable for migration events the past several days/nights and will continue to remain possible for at least the next few nights.
