With the overall weather pattern beginning to break down across the corn-growing region, a cold front will finally move to the southeast across much of the region by Sunday. Before it does so, however, we will continue to see a risk of corn earworm migration in a southerly wind flow regime. Moderate risks remain in the forecast one more night tonight into tomorrow from northeast Kansas into Missouri, Iowa, and extreme southeast Minnesota as far east as lower Michigan and western Ohio. As the cold front moves southeast tomorrow into Sunday, any remaining migration risk looks to stay mainly along/south of the I-70 and US 24 corridors and with weaker southerly winds and potential precipitation contamination, only Low risks are predicted. Growers are encouraged to continue checking traps and scouting susceptible fields as it is probable that at least some corn earworm migration events have occurred in the past several days given such a favorable weather pattern.
