Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks re-enter the forecast by early-mid next week as southerly winds increase in between high pressure across the eastern corn-growing region and low pressure in the western Dakotas or adjacent southern Canada. There is still some uncertainty in the exact placement of these features and also the overall strength of the winds, and for these reasons only Low risks are predicted at this time mainly west of the Great Lakes beginning Sunday night and lasting into at least next Tuesday night. It is very likely that the risks will be extended into later next week and that is actually when the overall pattern looks more favorable for migration and also further to the east once a cold front drops south by week’s end or next weekend.
