A strong cold front is expected to push southeast through the corn-growing region over the next 24-30 hours. South to southwest winds will continue southeast of the front, and may lead to some isolated corn earworm moth flights especially from Kansas into southeast Nebraska, southern Iowa, Missouri, central and southern Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and southern lower Michigan. Weaker southerly wind speeds precludes a higher risk at this time. Once this front clears the region, little to no additional migration risk is predicted for the balance of the week with northwest flow in place and high pressure taking over across much of the corn-growing region. We may see risks creep back in the forecast by the weekend or especially next week as heat returns on increasing southerly winds, however.
