Low corn earworm migration risks have been introduced to the forecast over the weekend as heat and humidity on increasing south winds returns to a portion of the corn-growing region. The most favored area for migration is across the southwestern half or so of the region, generally from Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and western Kentucky north as far as South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. There are still some question marks regarding a potential cold front early next week, but enough confidence is there to include an introductory Low risk across the aforementioned area by the weekend with refinements to follow. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage are encouraged to continue to scout fields and monitor traps despite a lack of new migration risk in the short term.
