A cold front will move through much of the corn-growing region by later Saturday into Sunday, and a continued period of southerly winds is expected especially to the south of a remnant warm front that is draped near the I-80 corridor from eastern Nebraska through Iowa and Illinois to the southeast. Precipitation is expected to be pretty widespread near this boundary and may limit southerly winds from moving too much further north during the day today and into tonight, so we have reduced the migration risk on the northern end and mainly kept it along/south of I-90 west of Lake Michigan and south of I-96 to the east. The better chance for migration will focus near and south of I-80, however, as it appears now. Little to no additional risk is predicted once this front moves south – we will need to keep an eye on a potential cold front early-mid next week but this is a northwest-flow driven system, and southerly winds may not recover for a long enough period of time until this front also passes southeast through the corn-growing region.
