Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast roughly along/south of I-80 through midday tomorrow with additional risks as far north as into southern lower Michigan, as well, as a frontal boundary meanders across this region. Better chances may focus across southern Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, but still anything more than an isolated moth flight here and there is not probable. As another low pressure system develops in the central Plains and moves east by the weekend, Low migration risks return to the forecast later Friday into Saturday across portions of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, southeast Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, Illinois, western Kentucky, Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan. A cold front will, once again, move southeast through the region by later Saturday into Sunday and should end the majority of any further migration risk by the end of the weekend and into early next week. Processors and fresh market growers are encouraged to continue insect management programs until harvest as some moths and larvae are likely still active in those susceptible fields especially given an increasing percentage of fields no longer being attractive to corn earworms now.
