Corn Earworm
No risk of corn earworm migration is predicted until the middle of next week as a persistent northwest to southeast wind flow pattern is expected across much of the corn-growing region. Any southerly winds should not return to the area until next Tuesday or Wednesday when the next low pressure system begins to develop in the Rockies or adjacent sections of the High Plains. A Low risk is in the forecast next Tuesday night and Wednesday morning for portions of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota but otherwise no risk is predicted in the next five days. Growers across the corn-growing region, however, are urged to monitor their fields now for new migrants that may have flown in during the past few nights and take any necessary action if crops are at susceptible stages to damage.
