Alert Details

The weather pattern across much of the corn-growing region this week is expected to be quite different from last week. Northwest to southeast wind flow is predicted to dominate, and such a pattern greatly limits any southerly winds blowing north from corn earworm source regions in the mid-south and southern United States. As a result, the only corn earworm migration risks in the next five days are focused in the Wednesday night into Thursday morning time period across the Plains into the western Midwest and further east into the Great Lakes and eastern Midwest Thursday night into Friday as a cold front quickly moves east through the area. Some southerly winds will be possible in advance of this front, but as a whole only limited migration chances appear in store this week.
