Alert Details

A continuation of a dominant northwest flow weather pattern should keep the majority of corn earworm moths in their source regions across the mid-south and southern states over the course of the next week. The only fields that may see some isolated moth flights in the coming five days are in the far southwest portion of the corn-growing region, especially across Kansas into Nebraska but some additional moths may make it as far north as South Dakota, Minnesota, and western Iowa Saturday night into Sunday as a weak area of low pressure organizes in the High Plains. Otherwise, Low risks focus across Kansas and Nebraska late in the weekend and early next week. Despite low or no migration risks, growers all across the corn-growing region should still be on the lookout for increased moth pressure as the second corn earworm generation is now emerging in many areas.
