Corn Earworm
A weather pattern conducive to primarily isolated corn earworm migration is predicted to continue for the next five days especially across the western and central corn-growing region. Light to occasionally moderate south to southwest winds may blow moth north into especially the Plains and western Midwest region tonight into tomorrow morning and then potentially as far east as Michigan and Indiana tomorrow night into Saturday morning. A weak cold front is predicted to move south into portions of the corn-growing region by Sunday, and the migration risk at that time is expected to focus back west across the Plains states before advancing back to the north and east into early next week. Growers with fields that are still at a susceptible stage to damage should continue to monitor their crops closely and take appropriate action, if needed.
