Alert Details

A Low corn earworm migration risk is predicted for tomorrow night into Thursday morning across the southern Midwest from south central and central Kansas east into Missouri and far southern Illinois as a strong low pressure system moves northeast through the Plains states. High pressure will settle over the eastern United States, and it will assist in providing a corridor of southerly winds from source regions in the southern Plains north into the Midwest. Corn planting and emergence is furthest along in the southern Midwest so while the crops are not at a stage where damage could occur, the risk is being issued to provide an awareness that a favorable weather pattern is in place for any early season migrants to move north into the Midwest.
