Alert Details

An active weather pattern is predicted to continue across much of the corn-growing region in the next week. Another low pressure system should emerge into the Plains states on Saturday, and a warm front will lift north through the southern Midwest. As high pressure moves into the eastern United States, southerly winds to the south of the warm front will likely not only result in showers and thunderstorms near the front but could also cause isolated corn earworm moth flights into a portion of the corn-growing region late in the weekend and early next week. Given the time of year and crop planting progress and stage, only Low risks are being issued from southeast and east central Kansas through Missouri into western Illinois for the possibility of an isolated moth flight Sunday night into Monday morning.
