Corn Earworm
No risk of corn earworm migration is predicted in the next week as the corn-growing region weather pattern is firmly locked into a northwest flow. Any southerly winds are predicted to remain confined to the southern Plains and southern United States in the next week. Growers are advised that despite any migration risk, larvae may be feeding in fields that are at susceptible stages to damage especially where moth flights earlier in the growing season occurred. It is recommended to continue to scout fields that are at critical stages of growth and check for larvae and feeding, and take appropriate action if it is needed.
