Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast by late in the week and next weekend as another low pressure system develops in the Plains states and moves east. Southerly winds in advance of the low pressure system and attendant cold front may produce isolated corn earworm moth flights into upper Midwest processing and fresh-market fields that are still at susceptible stages to damage. Low risks are in place from eastern South Dakota into central and southern Minnesota, far northern Iowa, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and southern Ontario, Canada with the risk initially in place west of Lake Michigan Friday night into Saturday morning and then east of Lake Michigan Saturday night into Sunday. Growers in the Low risk area should continue to monitor for the possibility of new moth arrivals during this time and take appropriate action in those fields that need treatment.
