Corn Earworm
No risk of corn earworm migration is predicted in the next five days. Northwest flow is predicted to dominate the weather across much of the corn-growing region into next week. While some short bouts of south to southwest winds are anticipated during this time especially into portions of the southern and southwestern corn-growing regions, the duration should limit any corn earworm migration and the primary source region across the mid-south region is not predicted to be an origin point for southerly winds into the corn-growing region into next week. Growers located especially west of Lake Michigan, however, may see a few new moths appear from recent migration events in the last week so trap monitoring and field scouting should continue despite no migration risks in the forecast.
