Corn Earworm
With calm or only light southerly winds expected in the next five days, corn earworm migration risks remain in the Low category and mainly focused in the western and central corn-growing region. For the next two nights, Low risks remain confined to the Plains and far western Midwest as high pressure currently in the Ohio and Tennessee River valleys keeps primarily calm winds in place across much of the central and eastern corn-growing region.
By late week and into next weekend, corn earworm migration risks expand east as a cold front begins to drop south from the Northern Plains and upper Midwest. South to southwest winds in advance of this front, however, are expected to remain rather weak so only Low risks are in place from southern Minnesota and Wisconsin southward into Illinois, Iowa, northern Missouri, portions of Nebraska, and Kansas on Wednesday night and Thursday night before re-focusing back in the Plains states for Friday night into Saturday morning.
