Alert Details

A cold front will push through the entire corn-growing region in the next 24-48 hours. Before the front passes to the southeast, however, some light to moderate southwest winds may provide a short-distance corn earworm migration risk especially to any remaining processing and fresh market fields in northeast Iowa, southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, far northern Indiana and Ohio, central and southern lower Michigan, and southwest Ontario, Canada. Growers in these areas should continue to monitor traps and scout fields for the next several days as some new moths may still arrive in the next 24 hours. Otherwise, once this front clears the area, no additional migration risks are predicted as northeast to easterly flow sets in and results in cooler temperatures through the balance of the forecasting period.
