Corn Earworm
An active week of weather is likely next week, and some isolated corn earworm migration risks are possible into portions of the corn-growing region. Low risks are in place starting Sunday night into Monday mainly west of Lake Michigan into central Illinois as south to southwest winds increase ahead of a cold front moving into the Plains and upper Midwest. Low risks continue mainly east of I-35 and the Mississippi River through early-mid next week as the cold front slows its forward progress. Only isolated flights are anticipated at this time and there is no imminent threat to crops – but some of these early first generation flights can result in additional generations later this summer when crops will be at a susceptible stage to damage.
