Corn Earworm
A couple of opportunities for isolated corn earworm moth flights are in the forecast in the next five days as the corn-growing region remains in an active yet progressive weather pattern. A cold front will be pushing southeast through the eastern corn-growing region tonight into tomorrow, and ahead of the front south to southwest winds may result in isolated moth flights into portions of far northeast Illinois, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, and southern lower Michigan as well as far southwest Ontario, Canada. As the next low pressure system develops in the High Plains early next week, low risks return to the forecast across northern Iowa, southeast Minnesota, Wisconsin, and far northwest Illinois Sunday night into Monday. Growers with crops still at susceptible stages to damage, especially processors and fresh market growers, should continue to monitor traps and apply treatments when/where needed.
