Corn Earworm
A couple of cold fronts may provide isolated corn earworm migration risks in the next five days. The first front is slated to push through the eastern corn-growing region in the next 24-36 hours, and southwest to westerly winds may lead to some isolated moth flights overnight tonight into midday tomorrow especially across eastern Illinois, northern Indiana and Ohio, southern lower Michigan, and into southwest Ontario, Canada. A break in the migration risk is then anticipated tomorrow night into Thursday morning, but Low risks then return to the central corn-growing region from Iowa and Illinois north into Minnesota and Wisconsin Thursday night into Friday morning, and across the southern Great Lakes region Friday night into Saturday morning as the next cold front moves through. Remaining processors and fresh market growers should continue to monitor traps and take action where needed with continued risks of at least isolated moth flights late this growing season.
