Corn Earworm
Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast beginning Thursday night across mainly the central Plains east into portions of Iowa and Missouri as a low pressure system develops east of the Rocky Mountains. As a high pressure area moves east into the eastern corn-growing region, return southerly flow is expected to commence across the Plains by mid-week and could potentially result in some isolated, mainly short-distance corn earworm moth flights from source regions in Oklahoma and southern Kansas north into Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri Thursday night. By Friday night into Saturday, the risk area expands to the east into Illinois as southerly winds push further east, as well. No additional risks are predicted after midday Saturday as a cold front and associated rainfall should keep any migration risks limited, if at all.
