Corn Earworm
Moderate corn earworm migration risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow morning across the southwest lower Great Lakes region from southern Wisconsin into eastern Iowa, northern/central Illinois, northern Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan. A cold front will be pushing through this region, and south to southwest winds to the east of the front along with at least scattered to potentially widespread precipitation may lead to scattered moth flights from source regions in the mid-south as far north as the St. Louis, Missouri area in eastern Missouri and southern Illinois. The rather quick-moving nature of the front precludes any risk after midday Thursday, however, as west to northwest winds lock in and become rather gusty quickly behind the front. A Low migration risk has been placed in the Day 5 period of the forecast across the Plains and into mainly the western corn-growing region to account for the next potential weather system and associated favorable winds.
