Alert Details

Corn earworm risks return to the forecast by this weekend and into early next week as a cold front works its way southeast through the corn-growing region. South to southwest flow, however, is only expected to be modest, at best, to the east of the front so only Low risks are in the forecast at this time. Low risks extend from the Plains to the I-35 corridor Friday night into Saturday morning and then into the Mississippi River valley Saturday night into Sunday, and finally primarily to the east of I-35 by Sunday night into Monday as the front moves east. A tropical system in the western Gulf of Mexico may impact the forecast in later periods but for now, any effects from this system may be minimal at least with respect to insect migration possibilities in the corn-growing region.
