Corn Earworm
A potentially complex weather pattern is possible by late this week and into next weekend as a cold front moves southeast through the corn-growing region. Additionally, remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey are now also expected to potentially impact at least a portion of the eastern or southeastern corn-growing region during this same time. A couple windows for potential corn earworm migration will exist in the forecast during this time – the first being across the Plains into the northern corn-growing region by Friday night into Saturday, and the second being across eastern fields in the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region Saturday night into Sunday as the front moves southeast and potentially interacts with the tropical storm remnants. Please continue to monitor forecasts this week for the latest – tropical storms have the ability to transport insects so fresh market and processing growers should continue to monitor forecast updates as the week goes along.
