Alert Details

A rather complex weather pattern is expected to develop by this weekend and into early next week as a couple of cold fronts and remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey move through portions of the corn-growing region. For corn earworm migration risks, the cold fronts may pose the better chance of seeing some isolated migration events especially from the central Plains northeast into the northern corn-growing region as Harvey should be too far displaced to the southeast to result in much risk given crop stage in the Ohio River valley. Low risks are predicted ahead of cold fronts, however, from northern Kansas and Missouri northeast into Minnesota, far western Wisconsin, and into eastern South Dakota on both Friday night and again on Sunday night.
