Corn Earworm
A rather persistent weather pattern is expected for much of this week as high pressure should remain over the eastern Great Lakes while low pressure systems remain stagnant over the northern Plains and south central Canada. A cold front is expected to trail to the south of the low pressure system, and east of this front to near the high pressure ridge it is likely that southerly winds and above average temperatures will be common. For this reason, corn earworm migration will be a possibility in remaining processing and fresh market fields especially west of Lake Michigan overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. The risk will edge east into lower Michigan and northern Indiana as well as northwest Ohio especially later this week, but the overall theme is that growers with crops still at susceptible stages should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as additional flights will remain possible despite it being mid-late September.
