Alert Details

With Hurricane Irene expected to move up the eastern United States coastline over the next 4-5 days, weather systems moving from west to east across the Plains and into the corn-growing region will not advance east very quickly due to blocking influences. High pressure should remain positioned over much of the central and eastern corn-growing region through early next week, and any southerly winds are expected to remain in the Plains states. Low risks are in place across portions of Nebraska and Kansas for the duration of the next five days except on Friday night into Saturday morning. Crop stages in this area, however, are past potential insect damage levels so only Low risks are predicted.
