Corn Earworm
Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted tomorrow night into Wednesday morning and again Thursday and Friday nights as south to southwesterly flow to the east of a weak cold front may lead to some isolated moth flights into remaining fresh market and processing fields especially in the northern corn-growing region. The Low risks tomorrow night into Wednesday morning are mainly from northeast Nebraska and far eastern South Dakota into Minnesota, northern Iowa, northwest Illinois, and Wisconsin. The risk then focuses slightly further west into the Plains Wednesday night into Thursday before pushing east to near Lake Michigan by Thursday night into Friday as the cold front moves southeast but weakens. Hurricane Florence may block weather systems from moving to the east very much late week into next weekend, but overall impacts to insect migration risks, especially this late in the season, should be minimal given crop stage.
